Apartment and condo jobs in State College live or die on the building rules: the freight-elevator slot, the loading-zone spot on Beaver Avenue, the certificate of insurance the property manager keeps on file. Appalachian Movers handles studios, walk-ups, and downtown high-rises across College Ave, Atherton, and the Penn State student belt — and we sort all of that for you.
The buildings we work in
The downtown core and the campus periphery are a patchwork of mid-rises, gated condo communities, and converted Victorians broken into four-unit walk-ups. Each has its own logistics, and we plan for them before move day rather than improvising in the lobby.
- Downtown high-rises like The Metropolitan and The Rise with shared freight elevators
- Gated and access-controlled condo communities along Atherton
- Third-floor walk-ups in converted Bellefonte and downtown Victorians
- Student complexes on College Ave and Beaver Ave during May and August turnover
Building logistics we handle
Most complexes require a reserved elevator window and a certificate of insurance, and many limit where the truck can sit on game-day weekends. We sort the paperwork and the timing with your property manager ahead of time.

- ProtectionElevator pads, corner guards, and common-area floor runners
Built for tight stairwells and student-season turnover
A two-mover crew at $115/hr handles most studios and one-bedrooms — the same rate as a small local move elsewhere in town. For a Metropolitan high-rise with a slow service elevator or a long walk from Beaver Ave, we add a third mover so the reserved window is not wasted standing in line.
Who books an apartment relocation with us
Penn State students switching between College Ave complexes, hospital residents rotating into Houserville rentals, and downsizers leaving a multi-story Victorian for a low-maintenance downtown condo (our house movers handle the move out) make up most of these jobs. We cover apartments throughout the Centre Region service area.
- Building check — send the elevator rules, loading-zone or permit parking, and any insurance certificate the property wants with your free quote request.
- Reserve the window — your job is scheduled around the elevator slot and the crew is sized to finish inside it.
- Move day — pads on the elevator and corners, furniture wrapped, and a clean walk-through before we leave.

What It Runs
A two-mover team is $115/hr with a two-hour minimum; a three-mover team is $155/hr, and larger jobs are pinned down as one flat written figure before our truck rolls out of Atherton Street.
Two of our own W-2 movers, a padded truck, four-wheelers, shrink wrap and quilted blankets — the whole State College job folded into a single Pennsylvania rate, with no broker handoff at any point.
