How Wade got started
Owner Wade Brennan grew up in Bellefonte, ten miles east of State College, and spent his early twenties driving long-haul tractor for a regional Pennsylvania carrier. After a decade running freight on I-80 and US-322, he saw the same pattern in every Centre County move he watched friends and family book: a phone quote that climbed at the curb, day-labor crews, and a shipment that quietly switched trucks at some warehouse outside Harrisburg.
Wade founded Appalachian Movers in 2011 to do the opposite. From the first truck he bought used in Tyrone, the rule was straightforward: a flat written price honored to the dollar, and only movers on payroll — never a contractor lined up that morning, never a job posted to a load board.
Why the name
The Appalachian ridge defines this part of Pennsylvania — it shapes the weather, the back roads, and the long climb on US-322 east. Wade put the name on the trucks in 2011 because he wanted a moving company that belonged here, not a franchise badge from somewhere else.
